WiPAT is part of Nexius' suite of software tools designed to help wireless
operators get the most out of their next generation wireless networks. The tool
is designed to collect performance metrics using the Radio Frequency interface
and it allows engineers to emulate users' experience on the wireless network,
this is done by supporting a number of 3G and 4G wireless access protocols as
well as higher level data transport protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP,FTP,VOIP,
SMS and MMS. Engineers use the tool to simulate an application where they
collect application specific metrics such as data throughput and access time and
they correlate this data with the Radio link engineering data such as layer 3
messaging, this allows engineers to optimize their network for specific type of
applications if needed.
The tool can be used in a stationary or a mobile environment, it is built using a client-server architecture where remote (or mobile) units are commanded using a centralized server to perform specific type of measurements, the server is also used by the clients to conduct measurements which provide visibility on both the uplink and downlink radio paths. All measurement data are uploaded to the central server at the completion of each test session using the wireless data network.
WiPAT supports a rich set of features that include performance testing of the following technologies:
- Voice over IP (VOIP) Quality of Service (QoS) measurement
- SMS and MMS message latency measurements
- Web Protocols (FTP and HTTP)
- Data transport protocols (TCP,UDP)
- Air interface layer 3 message measurements for iDEN and GSM
WiPAT is designed to integrate with Xplore, all measurement data can be analyzed using Xplore's powerful analytical engine that provides advanced data correlation and trending where results can be viewed via a geospatial map, drill-down reports or high level dashboards.

Provides wireless operators with advanced data collection and analysis to enable the delivery of high quality IP-based data services and applications
- Comprehensive Service/Applications Performance Measurement – TCP/UDP includes throughput, delay, jitter, loss, RTT, and disconnects. The software will handle both data and control traffic
- Air-Interface Layer 3 Integration – measurement of Layer 3 RF along with IP performance statistics
- Application Traffic Modeling – generic support to characterize traffic for any packet-based applications
- Session Management – ability to manually start, pause, stop, replay a test session to handle scenarios such as bad RF conditions
- GPS Marking – support for geographical correlation of test drive performance data to identify areas of poor performance.
- Comprehensive Reporting – user-friendly graphical reporting
- Plug & Play Architecture – supports scalability and functional extensibility
