OSS
The speed at which wireless network technologies continue to advance presents tremendous challenges for wireless operators, as they evolve their existing networks while preserving their high-quality standards. Nexius software engineers can support these operators through various activities related to OSS and BSS tool implementations and other software development needs.
Our team members have strong backgrounds in telecom and software development and years of hands-on experience in deploying and maintaining OSS tools, as well as in developing customized software applications. Subject matter expertise covers such areas as radio network planning, performance management, fault management, inventory management, and configuration control.
A key Nexius strength is its ability to provide operators with an "application-agnostic" perspective. Indeed, Nexius brings an objective view to the selection, implementation, and operation of applications, and is uniquely positioned as an independent third party that works on behalf of the customer to ensure that complex implementations are performed properly and within the stated customer guidelines.
We've created reference application platforms that allow us to rapidly architect flexible and integrated enterprise-quality wireless applications. We deliver to our clients the following benefits:

Innovative business models, aided by well-integrated consulting frameworks and technology deployment models.

Flexible architectures that are responsive to business needs and well-designed web technology application frameworks.

Reduced cycle time for application development.

Lower cost of development and integration with a client's business.
Our domain experts, who adhere to best practices and industry standards (such as eTOM and NGOSS), offer software-focused services, including:

Our business analysts have experience across a broad range of commercial software, including performance management applications, trouble/change ticketing systems, and hardware/inventory management software.
Software Roadmap Strategies
Nexius’ extensive domain expertise in BSS, NSS, and OSS systems as well as in software application solutions allows our experts to develop roadmap strategies that meet customers’ business drivers and user requirements, and fit within their operational processes. Nexius employs an architectural philosophy that focuses on using COTS products when available, selecting industry-leading technologies and products, minimizing custom integration, following open standards, and supporting the required operational models. We apply this philosophy to a multi-phase methodology that spans discovery and problem identification, through to design and planning. Our roadmap solutions are comprehensive, covering technical requirements, cost, staffing, processes, and operations. We are committed to delivering creative, cost-effective roadmap solutions that exceed our customer’s expectations.
Software and Systems Architecture development
Through the 1990s, as wireless operators moved to keep up with the rapid growth that then characterized the wireless industry, the increased focus they put on rapidly delivering network services meant less attention was placed on the network operations environment. As a result, the operations environments of many operators today typically consists of multiple software tools that do not adhere to a common system architecture and that operate in stove-pipe model. Moreover, each of these tools replicates network data in its own separate database, and data sharing among the different applications is manual and prone to errors. The impact is felt most in the network and service management layers of the eTOM model, particularly with respect to network modeling, capacity planning, service assurance, and configuration management.
To address this challenge, Nexius has adopted a Common Data Model (CDM) in all of its system architecture engagements with wireless operators. This CDM calls for all network operational and configuration data to reside in a single data warehouse and be made available via an enterprise bus to all applications.
Software implementation
Nexius has extensive experience in implementing large-scale enterprise-wide software projects in the RF engineering, BSS, NSS, and OSS spaces. We can quickly assemble the right team with the necessary experience to handle all aspects of the software project – from business analysis, roadmap definition, architecture development, and implementation through to testing and support – or we can focus on the realization, installation, and integration of the software.
We can integrate a software system on top of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) components or we can build a customized implementation from the ground up.
Nexius brings a product-agnostic approach to solving customer’s tool needs and draws on its in-depth expertise in C/C++, .NET, Java, J2ME, ASP.NET, J2EE, MapInfo, Oracle 10g, and Data Warehouse technologies such as Business Objects, Informatica, IBM DataStage etc., as well as its knowledge of non-functional requirements for wireless applications development.
Testing
Nexius understands that the goal of proper software testing is to assess the quality of a system at a very early stage, in order to detect any errors upfront and mitigate the high costs of catching defects at the production stage. To accomplish this objective, Nexius has in place structured testing practices and policies that prevent defects from flowing into the production environment.
Nexius also offers software project management services as well as support services through the lifetime of the software.
